The 4th Annual Barn Burner BBQ Competition presented by Fraser Valley Specialty Poultry & Johnston’s Pork on July 22, 2018 with $5000 guaranteed in prize money! Competition BBQ is rapidly expanding throughout North America, don’t miss your chance to get in on the action. BBQ lovers of all ages are invited to join the festivities including a live band performance, climbing wall, face-painting and samples of delicious BBQ meat.
The Barn Burner BBQ Competition is hosted by Fraser Valley Specialty Poultry and co-presented by Johnston’s Pork. This annual event that will see international teams competing for the cash prize, bragging rights and trophies for the best Beef Brisket, Pulled Pork, Chicken and Ribs.
Teams will also compete in a BBQ “Black Box” cook-off. This “Iron Chef” style competition gives these BBQ competitors a chance to show off their more creative side. They will each be presented with a black box containing four mystery ingredients. Those ingredients must be incorporated into a single dish and submitted to the judges. Judges will award points based on originality, taste and presentation. It is sure to be a very tasty battle.

Southern style BBQ is a technique in which meat is cooked at low temperatures (about 225 F) for a long time over indirect heat. The heat source is charcoal and wood. No gas/propane is allowed. The Barn Burner BBQ competition consists of 4 main categories: Beef Brisket, Pulled Pork, Chicken and Ribs. Brisket is cooked for 12 – 16 hours. Ribs take approximately 6 hours & chicken approximately 4 hours.
