Prairie Smoke and Spice kick off the BBQ season as Grand Champion in Chilliwack
“We could not be happier with the people of Chilliwack and the surrounding communities who made it out to taste with us today,” says organizer Angie Quaale. “We appreciate all of the visiting teams and the sponsors, who really made today special,” she continues. “Now that we can see how much Chilliwack loves low and slow BBQ, we are certain this will become an annual event event at the Farm Store.”

The inaugural Barn Burner BBQ Competition, presented in Chilliwack by Johnston’s Pork and Fraser Valley Specialty Poultry was a huge success. 21 teams competed for the Grand Championship which was captured by Saskatchewan team Prairie Smoke and Spice. Learn more at www.barnburnerbbq.ca.

“One of the many reasons I love food is because it is the perfect medium to bring people closer together in a community,” says competition organizer Angie Quaale, owner of Well Seasoned and the host of the decade-old annual BBQ Off The Bypass competition. “Barn Burner BBQ is one of those events where the community comes together to have fun, celebrate its passion for food and support each other locally,”

(BBBBQ) kicks-off Canada’s first 2015 BBQ competition in Chilliwack, British Columbia on March 22 from 11am to 5pm at the Farm Store located on 4540 Simmons Road. In its first year, Barn Burner BBQ is a free, one-day event featuring 21 teams from across the Pacific Northwest, Alberta and Saskatchewan set to compete for the championship. Meat lovers of all ages are invited to join the festivities including a live band performance, climbing wall, face-painting and free samples of delicious BBQ meat.
