Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 17, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Fraser Valley Specialty Poultry ("FVSP", "we", "us", or "our"), which hosts and operates the Barn Burner BBQ & Car Show, collects, uses, discloses, and protects personal information in connection with this website at www.barnburnerbbq.ca (the "Site"). This is an informational, brochure-style website for a community event. It has no online store, no ticket sales or payments, and no user accounts.
By using the Site, you agree to the collection and use of personal information as described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.
Applicable Law
FVSP is based in British Columbia, Canada. We handle personal information in accordance with the BC Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) and, where it applies, the federal Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).
Personal Information We Collect
Because this is a brochure site for an event, we collect very little personal information. Specifically:
- Information you provide to us. If you use the contact form on the Site, or email or call one of the addresses and numbers we publish, we collect the details you choose to share — typically your name, email address, phone number, and the contents of your message. Contact-form submissions are emailed to our events team; they are not stored in a database on this website. You control what you send us; you can choose not to include certain details, though that may limit our ability to respond.
- Analytics information. We use Google Analytics (GA4) to understand how visitors use the Site. This may include your approximate location, device and browser type, pages viewed, and how you arrived at the Site. We run Google Analytics with Consent Mode: analytics stay denied by default, and a banner on your first visit lets you Accept or Decline. Only if you Accept does Google Analytics set cookies and collect full analytics; if you decline or ignore it, no analytics cookies are set and only limited, cookieless measurement is collected.
- Server logs. Like most websites, our hosting infrastructure automatically records standard technical information — such as IP addresses, request timestamps, pages requested, and error messages — for security, troubleshooting, and to keep the Site running reliably.
We do not collect payment details, account credentials, or purchase history, because the Site does not offer any of those features.
Cookies & Fonts
The Site sets no analytics cookies unless you Accept via the cookie banner shown on your first visit. If you Accept, Google Analytics sets its measurement cookies; if you Decline (or ignore the banner), none are set. We remember your choice in your browser's local storage (under bbbbq_cookie_consent) so we don't ask again — clear it in your browser settings to be asked afresh. The web fonts used across the Site are self-hosted — served from this Site's own domain — so viewing our pages does not transmit your information to a third-party font provider.
Embedded Map (Contact Page)
Our Contact page embeds a Google Map so you can find the event. When your browser loads the map, your IP address and standard browser information are transmitted to Google and handled under Google's privacy policy. This request is part of how the map renders. If you prefer not to load it, you can still reach us using the contact details published on that page. Videos on the Site are self-hosted and do not embed a third-party player.
How We Use Your Information
We use the limited personal information we collect to:
- Respond to your inquiries and communicate with you about the event;
- Understand how the Site is used, so we can improve its content and performance (analytics, where enabled);
- Maintain the security, integrity, and reliability of the Site; and
- Comply with our legal obligations and protect our rights where necessary.
We do not use your information for automated decision-making, and we do not sell it.
How We Share It
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for targeted advertising. We share information only in these limited circumstances:
- Service providers. Our website host and email providers process technical and inquiry data on our behalf so we can operate the Site and respond to you.
- Embedded map. Loading the Google Map on our Contact page transmits technical data (such as your IP address) to Google — see "Embedded Map" above.
- Google Analytics. Where analytics are enabled, analytics data is processed by Google as our service provider, subject to your consent choices and Google's own terms.
- Legal requirements. We may disclose information where required to comply with applicable law, a valid legal request, or to protect the rights, safety, and property of FVSP or others.
International Transfers
Some of our service providers — including Google, where its map or analytics are used — may store or process information on servers located outside of Canada, including in the United States, and it may be subject to the laws of those jurisdictions. We take reasonable steps to ensure our service providers protect personal information consistent with this policy and applicable Canadian privacy law.
Retention
We keep personal information only as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose it was collected — for example, to respond to and follow up on your inquiry — or as required to meet legal, security, or record-keeping obligations. When information is no longer needed, we take reasonable steps to securely delete or de-identify it.
Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect personal information against loss, theft, and unauthorized access, use, or disclosure. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. Please avoid sending sensitive or confidential information through unsecured channels such as email.
Your Rights
Subject to applicable law, you have the right to access the personal information we hold about you, correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete, withdraw consent to our collection or use of your information, and ask questions or make a complaint. To exercise any of these rights, contact our Privacy Officer using the details below. We may need to verify your identity before responding.
Children
The Site is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact our Privacy Officer so we can delete it.
